Dis boxes | Trackside Connection Boxes (TCB)
RSP design manufacture and test an extensive range of Disbox/Trackside Connection Boxes (TCB) to cover many signalling and E&P applications. All our Dis Boxes are designed & built to project and client-specific requirements, in accordance with Network Rail standards utilising PADS approved products.

Trackside Connection Boxes (Dis Boxes) for Railway Signalling
RSP Rail designs and manufactures high-quality Trackside Connection Boxes, commonly known within the rail industry as Dis Boxes, for use in railway signalling and trackside infrastructure.
Built for durability, safety, and long-term reliability, our connection boxes are engineered to perform in harsh trackside environments while meeting the strict demands of UK rail standards.
Whether supporting signalling systems, axle counters, level crossings, or lineside equipment, RSP’s trackside connection solutions ensure secure and protected electrical connections across the rail network.
Trackside Connection Boxes Mounting Options
RSP offers a comprehensive selection of TCB mounting solutions to suit various installation requirements. Options include standard steel mounting stakes, trough-mounted stakes, GRP post mounts, and eco-friendly back fillable bases. All mounting options can be supplied with PADs approval where required.
A Trackside Connection Box, can be manufactured in a vast array of enclosure sizes and can come in GRP, Stainless steel or mild steel. To complement this, RSP can supply many mounting options, including: concrete base, steel post or wall-mounted. All TCB’s can be configured to have any amount and size of terminals mounted internally for use in Signalling and E&P applications i.e. TPWS connections, cable extensions and cable changeover.
What Are Trackside Connection Boxes?
Trackside Connection Boxes are protective electrical enclosures used within railway infrastructure to safely house and connect signalling and power cables.
Installed at track level or alongside rail corridors, they provide:
Secure cable termination
Environmental protection from water and debris
Mechanical protection from impact and vibration
Safe and organised routing of signalling circuits
Because rail environments are exposed to extreme weather, vibration, and operational stress, connection boxes must offer exceptional durability and ingress protection.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a trackside connection box?
A trackside connection box is an electrical enclosure used within railway infrastructure to house and protect signalling and power cable connections.
Are dis boxes the same as trackside connection boxes?
Yes. “Dis boxes” is a commonly used industry term referring to railway signalling connection boxes installed trackside.
What are dis boxes used for in rail signalling?
Dis boxes are used to distribute and protect signalling circuits for systems such as track circuits, axle counters, signal heads, and level crossings.
What IP rating should a railway connection box have?
Railway connection boxes typically require high IP ratings to protect against water, dust, and environmental exposure. The required rating depends on installation location and project specification.
Are RSP trackside connection boxes suitable for UK rail projects?
RSP connection boxes are designed specifically for railway signalling environments and are suitable for use within UK rail infrastructure projects.
