What is an Auxiliary Supply Point?

A Rail Auxiliary Supply Point (ASP) is a vital component of trackside electrical infrastructure, designed to provide dependable power for essential secondary railway systems such as points heating, signalling, and level crossings.

Unlike a Principal Supply Point (PSP)—which delivers primary traction or signalling power—an ASP ensures continuity of supply for non-traction equipment. This reliability is crucial for maintaining safe and efficient railway operations, even during network fluctuations or maintenance activities.
